Professor SHI Anbin, Associate Dean of International Development, speaks on CCTV on March 3rd, to analyze the media coverage of the Kunming terrorist attack on March 1st. The majority of Euro-American media are still enmeshed in the mind-set of "China is an exception of all exceptions," thereby maintaining the double standard to frame the Kunming coverage and reluctant to use the "terrorist" as they did for Boston marathon bombing last March and London stabbing of a British soldier last May. On the other hand, Chinese government has improved its crisis communication strategies of the Kunming incident, compared to the Tian'anmen bombing on Oct. 28, 2013, in terms of timeliness and transparecy.Yet, both the government and mainstream media still need to provide more solid evidence and persuasive argumentation to convince the international community that the terrorists' anti-humane crime is not unlike those in Boston and London.
