Biography
Professor Wu earned her B.A. (2007) and M.A. (2009) in Journalism and Communication at Renmin University of China and Dr. Phil / Ph.D. (2016) in Communication and Media Studies at Freie University Berlin. She received the German Chancellor Fellowship from Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and visited Ludwig-Maximilians-University München in 2009. In 2013, she also visited New York University for Online Privacy Research and Public Communication.
She has published the monograph “The History of German Journalism” (in Chinese, 2017, People’s Daily Press: Beijing, 413 pages), Book Chapter “Cultural and Gender Differences in Self-Disclosure in Social Network Sites” (work with H. Lu, in J. Petley (eds.), Media and Public Shaming: Drawing the Boundaries of Disclosure. IB Tauris, London, 97-111), and articles in Chinese core academic journals, including Chinese Journal of International Communication. She was supported by German DAAD and FAZIT Foundation for International Conference at Oxford University and Boston University (WAPOR 66th Annual Conference). In addition, she won the “Excellent Ph. D. Student Award” from Chinese Scholarship Council in 2012.
