New York Times reporter tells of China experience

Edward Wong, Beijing bureau correspondent for The New York Times, spoke to the Global Business Journalism program students on December 18.

He talked about China's continued emergence on the international scene and how the financial crisis of 2009 and the Beijing Olympics have created an even greater interest in China among New York Times readers.

Wong has worked at The Times for over a decade and has been in the Beijing bureau for six years. Previously, he had been posted to Iraq to cover the US occupation. As one of the correspondents who covered the recent 18th Party Congress, Wong also outlined many of the political and economic challenges facing the new leadership.
