Alexander Boome, program director for the Global Sources scholarships at Tsinghua University, met with recipients April 23 to discuss their internship experiences and career plans.
The students, all in the school of journalism, receive a paid internship with the business-to-business media company, which focuses on global trade. The scholarship recipients are selected based on interviews and an essay on the importance of sustainable global trade.
Boome encouraged the students to share their learning experiences in blog entries on the website of the Hinrich Foundation, whose chairman, Merle A. Hinrich, is the founder of Global Sources.
Boome said there are plans to expand the scholarship program and that the Hinrich Foundation is seeking partners interested in trade-related education and training to participate.
