Professor SHI, Anbin speaks on CCTV about on the Competition of Legacy/Social Media

Professor SHI, Anbin, Associate Dean of International Development, speaks on CCTV to analyze how legacy and social media cooperate and compete for the media market. A recent survey shows in Beijing only 30% TV sets are in operation during evening prime time. Tencent and Baidu will also replace CCTV as the most profitable media organization by the end of this year. Prof. Shi would not buy the idea of the death of newspaper or the demise of TV. Instead, he holds that it is the "paper" and "TV set" that would be replaced by new media platform such as "the second screen". He cited the example of the "paywall" adopted by New York Times to evince the axioms of "hard news is the core of the media" and "content is king" will never be challenged by the emergent new media such as social media.
