On September 7th,John Street, professor in the School of Political, Social and International Studies at the University of East Anglia, UK, came to Tsinghua undergraduate class and gave a lecture on “the Introduction to the British media.” The lecture was around three questions: whether the BBC should continue to exist, the relationship between the media and government and law, as well as the meaning of media “plurality.” The second question was more focused. At the end, the professor told about the “revolution” of the media (from the paper media to the new media). Professor Street believed that was not a revolution, on the contrary, it was a new medium to distribute the news. This lecture was hosted by Dr. CAO Shule, Assistant Professor of Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communication.
Before the lecture, Professor SHI Anbin, Associate Dean of International Development met Dean Marsden and Professor Street and discussed the possibility of cooperating on teaching and scientific research together.
