As part of TSJC’s dedication to expose students to actual media industries, students from the Global Business Journalism and International Journalism program visited China Radio International (CRI), a state-run radio broadcaster that reaches a global audience on Sept.18, 2014.
This visit gave students an overview of the background of CRI and highlighted the importance of keeping up with changing trends and technologies in order to better equip themselves with relevant media skills to meet the demands of an information-hungry audience.
Students visited the CRI English Channel and the workstations of professionals in this department.
These professionals, who are made up of local Chinese and other nationalities, work closely with one another to provide audiences with the latest news and events in China.
To meet the demands of its international audience, many of whom are interested in learning Mandarin, CRI English Centre has also introduced videos, podcasts and even a section on its website to help those interested in improving their Chinese language skills.
CRI has radio programs in 61 languages globally, making it an organization that acts as a bridge between China and the rest of the world. (by Yvonne Lek )
