A group of seven American journalists visited Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communication and attended a meeting with students and faculty to discuss the development and trend of Chinese media at Omnicom Building on October 17, 2014.
Visiting journalists included Michael Hiltzik , columnist of The Los Angeles Times; Ryan Cooper, program director of Cable News Network International; Braden Goyette, senior editor of Huffington Post; Patrick Rucker, energy reporter for Thomson Reuters; Roger Yu, reporter for USA Today; Janet Tu, economy reporter for the Seattle Times, and Mariliyn Lee, project coordinator of the US-based East West Center.
Professor Shi Anbin, associate dean of Tsinghua School of Communication and Journalism, hosted the meeting.
During the meeting, journalists and students focused on the reason for the large female population in journalism schools, future job choices of students, new media and traditional media as well as fundamental courses in the Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communication.
The meeting ended up with a campus tour guided by students. The goal of the exchange of ideas between professionals and students was for both sides to get a better understanding of each other.
