December 4, 2014—China Daily and Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communication have signed a strategic cooperation agreement. China Daily’s Deputy Editor Gao Anming and Administrative Dean of Tsinghua School of Journalism and Communication Jin Jianbin signed the agreement.
The two parties agreed to cooperate and play to their strengths, in order to cultivate talent, conduct international communication theory and research, develop new media technologies and brand promotion, and for student internships and employment.
Gao stated during his speech that the School of Journalism and Communication and China Daily are important forces for driving the development of China’s international communication. By cooperating and working toward writing a good Chinese story, both parties will disseminate the Chinese voice to enhance China’s image and soft power.
Jin stated that the cooperation is a natural progression from a long-term educational cooperation, as well as an important measure for international communication. Both parties will be able to complement each other and groom talent, fostering a global perspective on international communication. After signing ceremony, both parties discussed cultivating international talent, establishing practical courses, developing international communication capacity and promoting media research.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Shi Anbin, Associate Dean of International Development of School of Journalism and Communication. Cui Baoguo, Associate Dean of Research and Office Administration of School of Journalism and Communication and Zhu Baoxia, Deputy Secretary-General and Director of General office at China Daily attended. Also on hand were personnel from the technical department, human resources department, distribution department, Secretariat and New Media Laboratory, as well as student representatives also attended the signing ceremony.
Later that night, Gao Anming spoke about ‘Telling the Chinese Story, Cultivating Intercultural Talent’ to students of the School of Journalism and Communication.

The school aims to cultivate talent along with a strong sense of social responsibility, professional competence and ethics.
