Biography
Rick Dunham has 35 years of experience as an American reporter, editor and Washington bureau chief, and has spent a decade training and educating journalists and journalism students n the United States and around the world.
A Washington correspondent since 1984, he is a former president of the National Press Club and covered the White House for Business Week magazine and the Houston Chronicle. Before joining the faculty at Tsinghua in September 2013, he served for six years as Washington bureau chief of the Houston Chronicle and created the popular blog “Texas on the Potomac.” He also was Hearst Newspapers' Washington bureau chief from 2009 to 2012.
From 1992 to July 2007, Mr. Dunham was a Washington correspondent for Business Week, covering issues as diverse as the federal budget, international trade and the Clinton and Bush White Houses. He earlier worked in the Austin and Washington bureaus of the Dallas Times Herald.
Since arriving in China, Mr. Dunham has offered regular news analysis for CCTV’s“Dialogue” program. While in Washington, he made TV appearances on ABC, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, the PBS News Hour, C-SPAN, the BBC, and Fox News Channel, along with numerous radio stations and networks.
